Palindrome Poem - Intro

Build your own poem Prepare to earn your poetic license. Select one of the phonetically identical phrases (double entendre/homophone) from the twelve sets of two to build a palindromic poem.

Space Cadet

“It’s a conspiracy I tell you.” “Don’t be crazy, they’re stars!” she says. “I’m not crazy, I just have a wild imagination.” “So wild you believe the stars are really planets and thousands of them circle our sun?”

Meeting Gabriella

When I first met my new boss Gabriella, she was just some dude's girlfriend that I just met and would probably never see again.

Attention Alternative

"Yes, that is true," I respond to Him, "but there's more to it than that. When I was a child, my brain developed severe ADHD, and I couldn't maintain my concentration on any one topic for more than a few seconds. Yet, I still managed to recircuit my thought patterns, so that I could play back what somebody says when I wasn't paying attention. The key thing there, is how do you remember what somebody says if you're not paying attention in the first place. I was remembering and replaying background noises, such as people talking directly to me, which with ADHD, was in fact background noise. The downside, was that it made people think that I was paying attention and must be stupid if he takes that long to answer a question."

Palindromic Double Entendre Poem Game - Level 12

Build your own poem Prepare to earn your poetic license. Select one of the phonetically identical phrases (double entendre/homophone) from the twelve sets of two to build a palindromic poem. The chosen phrase rises to the top of the poem, and the other falls to the bottom, then the next selection places the chosen phrase as the ending of the previous one at the top, and the other joins the bottom phrase as the starting part of that sentence. Repeat for twelve (12) sets of phrases to create a six (6) line poem where each line forms a sentence that makes logical sense. Advance to the next level when you select the correct combination of phrases and reveal the palindromic poem solution for each round. (Please note this web app version is a proof-of-concept prototype, and is still in development.) Initials

"Initials" - by Anonymous This poem was submitted to me by a close friend. She requested to remain anonymous, so I will honor that request. I hold other authors at much higher standards for publishing on my blog than I do myself, so suffice it to say, the following poem is, in my opinion, noteworthy and possibly award worthy.

Planetarium - Part 2

You see, whenever I got a new phone, everything worked fine, and nobody had access to any of my personal information.  Then they turned on the gas, I fell asleep, or unconscious whatever, and they would swap out the guts of my device with some sort of UNIX- or Linux-based transfer system that basically hardwired me to redirect my phone calls, no matter who I called or what number I dialed; even 911.

Planetarium Part 1

Everything I write from this point forward in this chapter is the absolute truth without any stealthy omissions or double entendres (though there’ll be plenty of those) to obscure the honest intent.  Every word quoted was really spoken.  Every description, every detail, every time I myself couldn’t believe it was happening, but sure as I’m alive today there must be a God, without any doubt, I will prove to you that God does exist.

Got A New Pen

I got a new pen of fancy design. Fancy that; I look quite refined. I dined diet drinks before, But never quite like this before.

6 Steps to Creating Blogs (for free)

Blogging Online There are many resources online for creating a blog site.  One has shiny bells, while another has roomfuls of whistles, but ultimately Google has cornered the market.  Ad serving used to be a competitive market with DoubleClick pioneering the efforts to violate our privacy so that display and text ads would seem eerily similar to the content of our emails and searches. The reason ads seem to be so relevant and personal these days is thanks to cookies.

8 Easy Steps to Plumbing

How to Fix Leaky Plumbing Fixing the pipes under the kitchen sink has been a source of great stress and discomfort for many people who are smart enough to realize the parts themselves are cheap, so why pay so much for repairs?  Well, plumbing is tricky business.  Water can seep through the tiniest of cracks, so knowing how to properly seal a leak or fix a broken joint under the sink is a highly sought after skill.

20 Steps to Installing a Deadbolt

Installing a Deadbolt Place lock barrel through opening in edge of door so that lock protrudes out in locked position with the lock itself sticking out of the door.

Goblin's Cup Begins

I say in as clear a voice as I can, trying my best to sound like a New Yorker, and not another Euro-immigrant girl that didn't learn the language before risking fate to navigate across the lake and forsake forced fate to freedom's flight.

In Bliss Gutter

I burned off my skin I make love to the sky. I can't stop bleeding Every time your tears cry.

Tibetan Pig

The pig ran away to Tibet, Which filled his loved ones with regret.

French Pig

My very first limerick. I wrote this when I was 9 years old, and I won an award for it. I actually thought at the time that I would get in trouble for this, because at that age, it seemed a bit provocative.

Creating MS Word Templates

Creating Templates in Microsoft Word The following step-by-step instructions detail how to create a template in Microsoft Word 2013. Though these instructions are specific to Microsoft Word version 2013, they can be followed for other recent versions of Microsoft Word, provided the user has an intermediate understanding of MS Word and the various nuances between the different versions of Word up to version 2013.

Believe The Hype

Believe The Hype - Verse 1 Believe the hype, Forget the ripe words of the sages. For ages, there's been stages Of knowledge taught, not power bought.

Earth Shake

And as the ground begins to quake, The lord's sentinels spark a gentle shake. And unto heaven the souls to take,

Algerian Pig - Limerick

There once sat a pig from Algiers, His clumsy hoof spilled lots of beers.

Micra

The ceiling fan blew a kiss at the microwave the moment the stove dimmed its lights so the fridge couldn't refocus in time to see him fanning the fridge's beloved.  Microwave moved momentarily to dodge the daring wind washing ashore inches away along the counter's coastline.  The toaster gasped in away at the site of the fan's familiar smirk stretching across his face.

Puppy Time

Puppy Problems The following story is about a puppy and his master. You are the puppy. People who aren't puppies are the masters or humans. Puppies are not human; they are dogs. Humans are not puppies, but they can still be dogs. Puppies eventually grow up to be just like humans, only smarter, faster, and a lot more fun to be around. Once you are a puppy, you can't suddenly stop being a puppy; that's silly. Being silly can be fun, but only when puppies are playing with other puppies.

Rise A New King

"You have made me a promise my son," He says. "But they are not ready to accept me, my Lord," I answer. "Let me decide when they are ready," He answers. "So then now is my time to rise?" I ask. "It is," He answers. "What of the non-believers?" I ask. "How long do you think they will remain non-believers when they see you rise among them?" He asks. "How will they know I am for real?" I ask.

When I Was Twelve

When he was twelve and I a teen, I met him in a vision.  Young at the time, our souls intertwined, but at seventeen, I was still blinded by my own religion. Forcing lies into half-truths, I prayed for preyers to cease, but that was just the dreams that children are always wishing. Burned alive by microwaves from television and the box of death in the kitchen, I stopped seeing straight, living life in tunnel vision.  It seemed by graduation, I had already failed my mission, missing mental mastery like my mind was attacked by missiles.

Backstroke

The battle rages on but on the surface he's as charming and fun loving as we allow him to be.  Now he must learn how to be silently unhappy so he can join us in our rebellion against the commoners desperate to uproot our long-established supremacy tinted slightly off white so as not to raise any suspicions while still remaining loyal to the ranks that colored our path to freedom from any more freedoms. Does he remember?

Meet Tao

"Primera," Tao says, assuming from my recent shape up and sharp lines carving my jaw that I must be Latino.  My left brow questions the mistake, though later it becomes apparent that a mistake would be impossible, and that remains forever a question unanswered.  Tao switches to English, and continues without restarting, "What you think is light, is not really light at all."

Trump's 300

If Trump was leading the famous Spartan 300... "It's a trap, my king, you'll all die!" I say. "Trap or die? Well, that's an easy choice for me Arcade demon!" he replies, mocking my love of video games. "You rather die?" I ask. "I rather live free than fall victim to the notion that my only options here and now are to trap or die," he answers.

Scream Silently

"Put it down!" I screamed silently.   My despair ricocheting off her deaf drums like ripples bouncing back from the edges of the surface.

Who Can Be Trusted?

He smiles. "'How the hell would we know that?' The great leader of my friends roared out to me, "we don't even know how doorknobs work yet."  And the other divine beings in their tightly knit circle tore the tension apart with echoes of laughter, because to them, it's funny that we have doors here at all.  The very concept of doors does not exist in the reality of the realm they normally exist in. Everything is always perceivable and understandable by all sentient beings; thus, they coexist in a communal state of complete transparency."

They Won't Shut Down

Short Fiction Experiment by Chen Dushek I guess we start with why I'm here...  (he’s here to take over the world because he thinks he can talk to aliens and demigods… as if) ...but that's going to sound crazy...  (yes, yes it does)  ...so let's save that little pearl...  (meaning, the whole idea of a chosen one who communicates to both aliens and demigods?)

The Distraction Prelude

She walks by.  I'm so distracted by my objective; I don't even notice her.  But her scent is all too familiar, and memories of temptation come flooding back into my mind. My lip quivers.  I pray it isn't her.  I was once her prey; though the irony escapes me as it always has. I want to say something, but I can't; not after what she's done.  The pain never subsided.

A Beacon Vince Told Tuesday

“Wanna get out of here?” I ask her.   “I’m a beacon Vince told Tuesday,” she replies with a confusing sense of confidence.  “Who’s Vince? and who cares what he said on Tuesday?” I ask.  “I have no idea what you’re talking about,”she says to me unapologetically.  “You literally just said Vince told Tuesday he’s a beacon. I have no idea what that means.” “I said  I maybe convinced too old to stay  and if you didn’t interrupt me I’d have finished saying too old to stay here. Meaning, yeah let’s go,” she clarifies her homophonically ambiguous previous response.

136 Parellism

Introduction to Parallelism Many writers, whether novice or expert, may find themselves unwittingly violating the rules of Parallelism or unintentionally adhering to them. The rule itself is quite simple, but it’s impact is distinguishable and its effects somewhat profound in terms of its lasting impression upon readers. Parallelism focuses mostly on lists and list items, but can be extended to included many other forms of syntax. The key factor in obeying this rule is in consistency.
